Social Media Best Practices for Charities
Event Explores How Social Media Plays a Pivotal Role
for Several Sacramento-area Charities
Tuesday, November 8, 2011
Working with volunteers and smaller budgets for advertising and public relations, savvy charities are finding social media helps them level the public awareness playing field and reach key influencer's. Using Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other social media tools, these organizations are increasingly leveraging the power of social media to spread the word, garner support and build relationships.
Presented by the Sacramento Chapter of the Social Media Club, a panel of Sacramento charities and social media experts will discuss social media best practices and how social media impacts charities today.
Panelists:
Kate Towson, Americorps VISTA with Sacramento Steps Forward, Facebook Page
At Sacramento Steps Forward Kate is in charge of developing appealing content for our website, managing and expanding our strategic social media campaign, planning community-wide events and staffing our committees. She graduated in May 2009 from Washington College in rural Maryland, and promptly moved across the country to Sacramento for this job. Working with social media as a means to bring about social justice is a natural fit for Kate; since she was young, she has wanted to do two things: be a writer, and fight against inequality. Her experiences using social media have been an amazing combination of both those things.
